Sometimes that’s all you can ask for - especially now . A cheesesteak from the shop down the road, my favorite chair, and smooth jazz on the radio.

Times are str ange . Through all of this I’m lucky enough to still be employed. In fact, we’re seeing a significant increase in orders from some of our customers and likely will for a while. I feel like I’m in the right place a t the right time - though I doubt I would have said that even a few weeks ago. Times are strange, for sure.

As a side note, I recently discovered WJJZ 106.1 HD2, and it will likely be my go-to over iHeartRadio’s Smooth Jazz Originals station. Lots of good ‘90s g ems .

I do love how traditional cheesesteaks vary in PA. Go to Philly and ask for marinara, and they look at you like you just insulted their dead grandmother. Go an hour or two outside of the city, and you might just get sauce by default without even asking for it.

The contagion is bad for the economy but great for business.

Especially when your business involves medical diagnostic supplies and PPE.

Or two-day deliveries of goods and saving people trips to the store.

The variety is a wonderful thing - unless you’re a Philly native, then it probably is an insult! I’ll admit, I’m one of those that asks for the marinara sauce, at least outside of Philly . American cheese, sauce, and fried onions is my typical go-to . Sometimes hot peppers, but that seems to be a Lehigh Valley thing.

The further from Philly you get though, the more careful you need to be. I’ve been able to find a place or two in the York area that has good cheesesteaks ( there are probably more, I haven’t bothered to look ). One though - they once added lettuce and mayo on an order for a regular cheesesteak. It was likely a fluke and server probably got confused between the regular and the California on their menu, but it just seemed plain wrong!

Sauce, pickles, onions are all pretty standard in the Lehigh Valley. I like to mix it up. Sometimes I get sauce, sometimes I don’t. And I hope that the California cheesesteak was an accident. I’ve never heard of getting lettuce and mayo on a regular one before.

My sister lives literally around the corner from Pat's and Geno's in South Philly. So about once a year I walk over to Pat's and get one (wiz widout in the local slang). It's not the best cheesesteak in Philly, but it serves its purpose well. John's Roast Pork is my preferred spot in Philly though.

So, that’s marinara sauce with (cheddar/american) cheese?

Interesting.  I usually only do ketchup w/American cheese.....not sure I’ve ever mixed ‘spaghetti sauce’ with American or cheddar.   Not sure I’ve ever even seen anyone do it!   (NYC tri-state area)
